Money Is Important If You Self-Publish
If you intend to self-publish your books would it be fair to say that money is important, the self-published author has the same goals as the traditionally published author– that is to make money and to make a bit of a profit after expenses. Money is vital, and important in the writing world, and also the research and quality of your book is also vital.
This is where knowing what, how and when to spend your money is important to making your return on your money. There are a number of examples in terms of money and self-publishing that you need to be aware of.
1) It is possible to make money by self-publishing, but you have to think about where you are spending your money. You can spend money on the actual publishing of the book, but you can also spend a lot of money on the marketing and promotion of this same book.
2) You will need to know what is a self-publishing company and what is a vanity press. One is viewed in the literary world better than the other. A vanity press, is something where it can cost thousands of dollars to buy a package, whereas it can cost as little as $250 with a self-publishing company. As a writer, and a business person you need to know your costs.
3) A writer who intends to self-publish, you must do your research. In other words, if your book costs two dollars a book to publish, and you are spending two more dollars per book on marketing, and you have printed out 200 books, then the cots to make a profit is higher than if you simply self-published your book and did not market it as much.
