Where Do you Do Your Research?
Some people will suggest that you can now do research using only the Internet as a means to get your information. After all, the reasoning goes, you can find your university library information there, so if the university has information on the web, much of the web must be correct.
What I want to ask is this question to the people who say this: Are you sure?
To me, and to many others, part of what makes research great is the actual going to the library and learning and making sure that the information is correct.
The other reason was today I went into a store and asked for a book on Transylvania, not the big fact mind you, but when the search was typed into the bookstores information, one of the few books found was a book called Transylvania and Hungary…. the publisher? AuthorHouse.
So, you also need to think about where and who you are getting your information for your writing. Your professional views are of value.
So where do you do your research?

For up to date/recent research, professional researchers are very happy to share their lastest findings and I subscribe to some of the companies that cover my areas of interest. In turn they send me their reports on a regular basis, or I interview them when the need arises.
I also use the library to research time-less information.
When I use the Internet, it's mostly to look for new research on the sites of companies I mentioned. I prefer not to rely on sources that have not been validated for information and get very upset when I get emails from students visiting my blog who want to use me as a source. Info on my blog is opinion, not necessarily fact, and my belief is that the same applies to a lot of the sites we come across.
