Saturday and Emails: Document Manuscript? What Genre of Writing?

Again Another Saturday another round up, As I said yesterday in my blog post, this is part of the 95% of my emails. Again all identifiers are off, this is for reasons of privacy but also so that people can feel comfortable in commenting.

Dear:

Enclosed is my document for your approval.

I have been writing this document for many years, and I would like you to look it over, and if you like this romance document, please contact me.

This document flows along the lines of a mystery romance science fiction document and is 251,159 words. All the people in my document are vital, and I will not cut any of them out for any reason.

I have done extensive editing through edit avenue, and it has received glowing reports from this editor, as well as my family and friends who think I have written a wonderful document.

Please contact me as soon as possible.

Okay I admit, this one is not too bad, however there are a few things that don’t work with this one:

— editing needs to be done a bit more, edit avenue is a good beginning, but to get a “glowing report” worries me, there is always editing needed.

— what genre is it? if you are planning to publish a “document” (which isn’t the correct term) decide on one genre, not mystery-romance-science fiction. Yes there will be parts of each in a book, but one will stand out.

What suggestion will you make?

For a person seeking feedback on his piece, phrases such as "contact me", "I will not cut", "I have written a wonderful document", etc., sound so unthankful.

Second, if he/she thinks that "extensive editing" is done and "glowing report" has been received, then why he/she wants your approval.

The signing-off line again doesn't go down too well with me. "Please contact me".

Too much use of 'I' and 'me' in the mail takes the shine away from his/her document even before one goes through it.
