Is Writing Non-Fiction Boring? Part 9 of 15

So, ten questions before we begin: ( Easy Yes or No…)

Is anyone really too young in writing?

Can anyone write non-fiction?

Is writing a powerful medium?

Can fiction and non-fiction co-exist?

Can all writing be easy and challenging?

Can the writer add their own style in non-fiction?

Can non-fiction be published anywhere?

Can non-fiction be readable to anyone?

Can all writers write non-fiction?

Can writing be enjoyable?

Most of these answers are yes, but one is no, and one is a debatable yes and no. I’ll let you know right now my thoughts on two of them. The both seem the same but read them all again and you’ll see the difference!

Can anyone write non-fiction and can all writers write non-fiction? well, my dad writes Christmas cards, and these are non-fiction ( Okay, pushing it there with the yearly fishing expeditions he does, but still…) he isn’t a writer. Others writers will say non-fiction isn’t their thing, so it’s a maybe. Writers seem to know what they do best.

Non-fiction can be fun to write, and as many of you pointed out, it was originally as a spring board for your fiction writing. Yet, it is still fun, so why?

I think it’s the thrill of being able to create something known into something a bit different, in a different light, in a different place or time, something that wasn’t seen before. I think for anyone who writes non-fiction, it’s fun because it’s a different sort of challenge.

Some will even argue that it’s also easier to edit and to be published with non-fiction and for the most part they are correct. Publishing non-fiction is a bit easier as a good writer can write a good non-fiction and an even better writer can write a creative non-fiction. No fact fixing please. That is critical.

So my question for you today is this: What comes to mind when you think of writing? Do you enjoy the art of writing non-fiction? do you love the art of creating the known into better known?

Never really wrote anything serious in non-fiction. Would surely love to write something like that in near future

I've wanted to write fiction, but I get bored easily– I'd probably be able to come up with a short story for an anthology, but that's about it. If I have to make something up and be creative, I'd probably just paint instead.

I am working on a non-fiction book that I know is going to be a huge hit (for me anyway) and I'm doing interviews with tax professionals to get their ideas on marketing for tax practices.

Now, to most people, this would put them straight to sleep! But I really like it. I actually have so much fun talking to these tax pros. We laugh and joke and talk about the IRS. I know, that doesn't sound fun for most people.

So I think it's all about finding something that you love, whether it's fiction or non-fiction.

Writing a non-fiction piece scares me. So much truth to be accurate about…so much pressure to be an expert. I prefer my fiction, because inspirations in my mind cannot be debated.
