Money and Publishing
January 6, 2010
Okay something to think about, when going the traditional publishing route: Advances and Royalties. Yes, it’s money and it has a lot to do with publishing.
I help a literary agent in “gate keeping” and this is a big mistake people!
An advance is against your potential royalties, you get the advance before you get the book published and the objective is that you sell enough books to cover your advance. Then you get royalties. ( In other words don’t say you want royalties with your advance— you now know!)
So please, know this, and then it becomes easier to understand money and publishing.
When it comes to money and publishing and marketing what gets you annoyed/ angry/ irritated?

Money, but that's if I get paid despite the book not doing well. It's completely dissatisfying!
In other cases, it's the marketing part.
