So, What IS the Big Deal About Writing?
Some people love to write. It is their lives, to the point where others will refer to their “love life” of the computer. Not that this is a bad thing, but the problem is that for some writing is a big deal and they want to see success with it.
So, they will build their networks and build their platforms and build up their writing, and never see any money. Now, this is not a bad thing, but if you don’t make money and you don’t work outside the home, in a day to day job, you will find that people will not be as supportive of your efforts.
Why? Frankly the big deal about writing is that you can make money and you can support yourself with your writing and you can be successful. How successful depends on you.
Still money is important and people will face burnout without money from their writing, now some will say build up your blog to the point of big traffic and less work, and of course more money… but in the end you will still face burnout if you lose your passion for writing.
But what is more important? The writing or the money?

It seems to me that the money, if there is any, is a symbol of the writer's ability to grab the reader's attention and then keep them involved. The writing and the money walk hand in hand1
I just finished reading your hub, No Money on Hub Pages. I will put these idea into practice a little at a time. I might add that a "how to" piece of writing gets more attention than anything else…at least that is true for me.

I truly think the writing is more important – especially if you consider the writing an art, a craft. Money is important, don't get me wrong, but the writing's the thing. The whole money thing has simply confounded the art.

Writing for me is like breathing. It's not something I ever really wished to do, I've just always been able to do it. Up until a few years ago I didn't want to make a career out of it, but I found the more I wrote the more I needed to do it. The passion for the art always has to come first, but that being said, those of us who wish to be able to make a career out of it, need to be able to sell books to make money to live. It's a subjective business, one that is incredibly frustrating at times.
