What is the Hardest Thing About Publishing?

I love to write, I admit that right now, and I’ve not been writing as much recently.

But I am busy. I am trying to get one of my book published, and there are challenges in that front. Possibly because it makes me nervous or I’ve heard all sorts of horror stories of self-publishing.

I have to thank Christy though. I reviewed her book, Step by Step Guide to Self-Publishing for Fun and Profit. I took the leap of faith. I am busy trying to get all in order to self-publish a book.

I know the challenges, I know I need to get an ISBN and everything. I know (really I KNOW!) I’ll need to get an editor. boy this will keep me busy. Still there is something about it that is exciting. Off for a few plans and some enjoyment, but my adventures will be chronicled right here.

Yes, good for you– taking the right steps. My good buddy Al over at Publish or Perish is trying to do all the same things, too… working on a website, etc. It so exciting at the beginning. Brave new World!

Ah, Rebecca I am tempted to offer my services as an editor, but I've never done anything like that before. You'd be better with the services of a professional. I'm waiting with baited breath to see the finished results, and I will be following your progress – be sure of that.
All the best with this new venture

Best of luck in your self-publishing journey! I've found editing is the hardest thing to do when it comes to publishing, as you can reread your novel a million times and still miss the tiniest typos or small comma errors. I recommend having someone look over the manuscript before publishing as you don't want bad reviews or complaints because of typos.

Which company do you plan to use? I would recommend Lightning Source – and set up your own publishing company – only then you have to do it yourself- but it's cheaper and better quality than other self-publishing/vanity presses.
Good Luck and I wait for you book!
