Editing Isn’t My Best Point But….

I still need to do it. A lot of it.

So why Do I write about editing when this month theme is about publishing and marketing?

Well, if you want to be published you’d better have a good edit or three, even if it’s just done by a online editor, but it must be done.

Still want to be published?

great so off editing we go!

I am a decent editor, Rebecca, and if I can help, let me know. I edit, and edit and edit my work — I have to. I have rheumatoid arthritis and my fingers don't always do as I ask. Even this little note has been re-written a few times. Still, it isn't until the work leaves my hands that I see many of my mistakes.

I also use an online editor — Autocrit — one I highly recommend.

Thanks to this link to your blog. I'll be back.

Rebecca, I have to say I couldn't agree with you more. Editing often leads to huge portions being rewritten, and sometimes completely eliminated.

And I have to agree with lmmartin, sometimes you just don't see it until it is out of your hands. 🙁

lmmartin, is Autocrit a program or a website?

Hey Duchess, fancy meeting you here. Autocrit is an editing website, you paste in text and run it. It comes back highlighting your weaknesses, overused words, repeated phrases, use of have, that, knew, saw, feel — the things we flog to death. So it shows up your weak areas like magic. I did write a hub on it. (Serves you right for not reading my work) but I took it off once it dropped below a certain score (as I do anything that is scored less than acceptable to me.) Cost is — ready for this? — $47 year.

I find it an invaluable tool.
